It's also a great base for many blends. When I ran out of my doTERRA lavender oil (I don't purchase from doTERRA anymore for ethical reasons), I became obsessed with finding THE best lavender essential oil. Oh, how many articles and GCMS reports I poured over! I don't want to be the only one to benefit from all that research, so this post was born. Enjoy!

I would trust ALL of the following lavender essential oils to be pure, unadulterated, undiluted, and high quality. Hopefully, the following guide will help you. I'm not an expert chemist, but I am an expert consumer and I don't click "buy" on essential oils without feeling good about it. The following are key things to look for in lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) GCMS compound percentages:

Linalool: Normal range is 25-40%.

Linalyl acetate: Normal range is 25-45%.

Lavandulyl acetate: Normal range is 2-4%. Super low percentages of lavandulyl acetate could be a red flag for adulteration. Super high quality, unique lavenders have higher than 4%, but this is not typical.

Terpinen-4-ol: Normal range is 2-6%. Terpinen-4-ol supposedly provided immune support.

Beta carophyllene: Look for 2% or more to benefit skin

Camphor: 1% or less

1,8-Cineole: 1% or less

Borneol: 1% or less

Lavender is often adulterated with the cheaper and lower quality lavadin which is usually higher in camphor, or with synthetic linalool or synthetic linalyl acetate.

I would love to hear about your experiences with lavender oil and specific brands!

Your Blunt Friendhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13078721244989223421noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4091916856020039355.post-29736369896408316282023-09-01T08:50:00.006-06:002023-09-01T08:50:34.134-06:00Best Sock Brands? Ultimate Sock Brand Review

With 11 in our household, our sock pile is impressive. When our family was smaller, I bought my kids whatever socks were on sale and looked cool...mostly Fruit of the Loom or Hanes. But as our family size increased, matching and folding socks like this became a real chore! My solution? Each child gets a different brand, which also has the requirement of being all the same color. For example:

Papa: white Puma, dark dress socks

Child 1: white Hanes

Child 2: white Dickies

and so forth...

The system works pretty well. Every now and then we try out new brands. Over the years, we’ve tried many brands over the years. It’s been pretty interesting to find out which socks wear out the best. I won’t talk about them all, but I thought I would talk about 12 of them. I’ve divided them into the following categories; top quality, noteworthy, and just okay. Within each category is a list of brands arranged alphabetically.

Top Quality

Adidas: The cushioned ones with arch support are the best. We ordered these over three years ago for my daughter before switching over to white Dickies. She has continued to wear the Adidas alongside the white Dickies, and the old Adidas just started getting holes. Three years before getting holes is super impressive!!!

Dickies: My favorite series is their Dritech Advanced and I got them in black. My daughter started borrowing them from me and we decided to get her a white set to replace the aging Adidas. Our local store sells Dickies and so it was an easy switch. Dickies have arch support and are sturdy, cushioned, reinforced, and even have a "reciprocated heel and toe for superior fit". I've had mine for almost three years and just spied my very first hole. My daughter's had hers two years and counting with no holes!

Gold Toe: Seek out their hard-to-find athletic Ultra Tec ones which are super soft and super sturdy. What tickles me about this brand is that it ages really well. The little bits of gold lines on it (indicating its size) are still clear and the whiteness of the rest of the sock is still pretty bright. I actually can't think of a different brand that compares to how well these socks age. They are over a year old and look to be just a couple months old. I plan to stick with this brand for my son, but it is becoming increasingly hard for me to find the specific series and/or size and/or color.

Noteworthy

Carhartt: I got the cozy low-cut socks to wear when it is so cold that I wear thermals under my jeans. There are excellent deals for Carhartt socks on Amazon.

Hanes: This company is best-selling for a reason. Seek out cushioned, tough, premium ones. My oldest son loves the Max Cushion Crew series. I’d say they last about 6-9 months before starting to get holes. Pretty good for such an inexpensive brand.

Jefferies: A leader for baby, toddler, kids, and dress socks. Over a year ago, I bought the School Uniform Seamless Half Cushion Quarter Sport Socks in pink for my toddler girl. Although the pink color has faded away, there are no holes. They are more pricey than your average brand.

Puma: Their Repreve series is good…save money and buy in bulk from Costco. Puma is the brand of choice for my husband and second son.

REI: Longlasting! I was given a hand-me-down pair for my son and it is still going strong. It doesn't have any holes and it retains its shape well. I think this current style is comparable.

Just Okay

Wear-Out Pattern of Children's Place Socks

And1: The lightweight summer sport ones get holes fast. You'll be replacing these about twice a year. They have a wear-out pattern very similar to Children's Place crew socks.

Children’s Place: Their toddler crew socks are better than their regular crew socks but I’ve almost given up on them. They don't age well. They become almost crispy. And when they do decide to get a hole, it transforms into huge holes faster than other brands. For the price, I'd look elsewhere. I keep buying because the black and gray ones are easy for my toddler son to find and I’m too lazy to train him to find other ones right now. But I'm working up to a brand switch!

Fruit of the Loom: They have been making socks for years and they feel great but they also don’t last long. They are also cheap enough that if you don’t mind replacing them a couple times a year, they would be a good brand. Look for cushioned, reinforced ones.

I hope that this short and blunt Ultimate Sock Review has given you an idea of how to organize that beastly sock pile to make it more manageable. Over the last year, I had questions regarding their Frankincense oil (their most over-priced and controversial oil) and its associates would not give me straight answers. The further I dug into finding out answers, the more doTERRA became the King of Defection over the King of Oils, leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I did not always feel this way about their company and have some of their oils that I still use, but have no intention of reordering from doTERRA. I hope that one day their corporate leadership will be fully transparent, show public remorse, abandon their corrupt supplier, truly buy direct from the locals, and begin to repair the frankincense fiasco that they created (whether knowingly or unknowingly) in Somaliland and surrounding countries. Maybe one day if I get brave enough, I will do a post about it. For now, please do some research and decide for yourself if doTERRA is a company for you. I still think that the oils in MetaPWR create a great blend though. Here's my guess*** at the MetaPWR formula:

DIY MetaPWR Oils:

35% Ruby Red Grapefruit

25% Lemon

25% Ginger

10% Cinnamon Bark

5% Peppermint

To make a more child-friendly version, switch the peppermint out for spearmint, and then make sure to only use this as a diffuser blend for kids (on account of the cinnamon bark).
Read more »Your Blunt Friendhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13078721244989223421noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4091916856020039355.post-11409181441057586002022-08-12T13:48:00.000-06:002022-08-12T13:48:02.949-06:00Review of Cultures for Health Heirloom Starters of Yogurt
Here's a quick mini review:

Ever hear of Mesophilic yogurts? Those are yogurts you can culture on the countertop at room temperature. I tried four different mesophilic yogurt cultures from Cultures for Health. I was super excited to try a yogurt that easy where you just culture it on the countertop.

Sadly, I decided that I didn't like any of them (Villi, Filmjolk, Matsoni, Piima) because of their watery consistency. They thickened up very well when cultured but that thickness just didn't remain when spooned into my mouth...it just melted, kind of similar to what happens to gelatin. When eating them there was no mouthfeel of typical yogurt. It is hard to describe but all of them were just missing something. I was super bummed.

If I was going to try another meso yogurt, I think it would be Amasi, Halsofil, or Bollnasfil from Positively Probiotic and make it with half and half. But honestly, if I wasn't happy with any of the above four that I have already tried, I am pretty doubtful that I want to venture into any more mesophilic cultures right now.

What about you? Is there any mesophilic starter you can recommend?
Your Blunt Friendhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13078721244989223421noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4091916856020039355.post-88983032854685515662022-05-24T12:25:00.004-06:002023-06-14T11:37:30.499-06:00Best Dishwashers 2022
Buying dishwashers can be tricky. Currently, the delays and shortages were hard to work around as we bought a new dishwasher. Here are some tips:

1. Buy from your local appliance store. When you visit an appliance store you can handle and compare the appliances and really get a feel for which ones are top quality. Buying from a local appliance store also means you can walk out with the appliance.

2. Do not buy from LG or Samsung. Supposedly, LG and Samsung do not pay their repairman, and so it is difficult to find someone to do repairs under their warranties. LG's LDFN4542W was at the top of my list until I learned about repairman refusing to service them under warranty.

3. Buy with whatever credit card has the best purchase protection and warranty extension. (I recommend Costco's Citi Visa with 120-day purchase protection and 2-year extended warranty.) The reason why I say this is because dishwashers are now considered disposable. All the companies I researched had a one-year parts & labor warranty. Using a credit card with a good extended warranty means you can feel more secure laying down more money for a dishwasher. If you don't have a credit card with these options, then I would say buy the least expensive quality dishwasher you can find (just not LG or Samsung).

#1 Dishwasher: Maytag MDB8959SKW. This dishwasher was not even on my list until I visited the local appliance store. Upon opening it and inspecting the inside, I could tell it was very solidly built and high quality. It's third rack is a major game changer. I chose this Maytag over Bosch's 800 series because its third rack has so much more room, and the racks move smooth like butter. And dishes come out so dry! $899 I feel like a queen using it.
Read more »Your Blunt Friendhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13078721244989223421noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4091916856020039355.post-32075118769896802602022-05-24T12:21:00.001-06:002023-06-14T11:37:48.202-06:00Best Washing Machines 2022
This post is mostly for me so I don't forget the info.

I've been searching for a washing machine that completely covers the clothes with water. I am done with the HE water skimping washers that take hours of washing in order to get clothes sufficiently clean.

Here are the top three:

Speed Queen TC5, specifically AWN632SP116TW02: Built to have a 25 year life, this washer fills all the way till full. It has true water temperature and a 5 year parts and labor warranty. It is built with commercial grade parts (including all metal gear transmission) and has a fast (32:40 on heavy cycle), aggressive wash. It is basic, no frills washing machine designed to clean well and fast and last! Expect to pay about $1449. Yep. Though it is worth noting that "wear and tear" is one of the warranty's exclusions. Calphalon's warranty covers wear and tear so I would be wary that Circulon might claim that a muffin pan loosing its nonstick ability falls under "wear and tear". I called the Circulon company for more details on how long the nonstick feature is supposed to last and she said 15-20 years. But she also said that they evaluate claims on a case by case basis and that these claims need to have pictures as proof.

At $14.99 this is a pretty reasonable price. So I decided to test out Calphalon's life warranty.

I filed a claim online and am happy to report that my replacement pans came in about 75 days. I sent hubby off to buy the exact thing but he came back with a bagless version called Powerforce Helix. It worked great, then the cord winder thing snapped off and then it just died this past month. I'm telling you, people. There is no school like the old school. Companies just don't make things like they used to.

I started researching new vacuums to buy and ended up calling Bissell's commercial center because I figured a commercial vacuum would be better than a typical household vacuum. I learned from the associate some interesting tidbits. It is better to buy a household vacuum with a long warranty than a commercial vacuum because commercial vacuums are considered even more disposable than household vacuums AND their warranties typically are for one year only. So then I called the regular Bissell company (1-800-237-7691) and expressed my frustration that my vacuum had died. Here is what happened.
Read more »Your Blunt Friendhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13078721244989223421noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4091916856020039355.post-83389599266815754872021-09-21T14:55:00.054-06:002023-06-14T11:42:03.213-06:00ALL the Silver Dollar City Skillets in One Place!
Do you love Silver Dollar City skillets as much as I do? If you want a crisp clean cut like the one below, the Alligator is the best. And this brand has a special built-in grid that makes clean-up so much easier than other brands out there. The Alligator Chopper is my go-to for dicing onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, zucchinis, mushrooms, and even carrots. You can use the Alligator Chipper for big half-inch pieces like potatoes/apples. Use the Alligator Mini for finely dicing/mincing hot peppers and garlic. But if you are choosing just one from their line-up, hands down the best one is the classic Alligator Chopper. It is sold on Amazon too.

Best Yogurt Maker: If you love yogurt, then you have got to invest in the Probiotic Maker (previously know as the EZ Yogurt Maker). I recently had my kiddos (all except our 2-year-old that doesn't talk) take a survey about their most favorite and least favorite group toys.

I let them each vote for their four most favorite and their four least favorite group toys. Then I had them star their very favorite. The answers were really eye-opening for me as a mother.

Below are the 10 categories arranged from most favorite to least favorite.

Duplo Legos: This was EVERYONE'S favorite. I personally thought that it would tie with magnetic tiles but nope, everyone starred Duplo Legos and magnetic tiles and cars were almost even-steven. I should note that we do not keep our Duplo Legos in sets. All sets are mixed together to foster more creative play and also keep arguing down and made clean-up quicker.*

Magnetic Tiles**

Cars

Animals

Marble Run

Lincoln Logs

Trains

Ponies

Barbies

Potato Heads

So if you are thinking of investing in some toy sets that are good for group play and will cover a wide range of ages, I highly recommend you start with Duplo Legos.

*Please note that I am talking about the big Duplo Legos here. I do NOT like regular Legos. I also need to stress the importance of NOT keeping any Legos (Duplo or otherwise) in sets AND that all the Legos be placed in one big bin and open for anyone to use. If I had implemented this rule early on, I would have saved our family a lot of time and arguing. If you are wondering which ones to buy, I would just get a Duplo World Animals Box or a Duplo Deluxe Brick Box and then supplement with a set that your kiddoes are nuts about (construction, princesses, superheroes, etc.) and then keep your eyes out for random Duplos at thrift stores. Our best Duplo finds have been at thrift stores over the years.

**I also want to note that while my kids really like Magnetic Tiles (like Magna-Tiles*** or PlayMags), when we were at a friends house, they played with Magformers and actually said that they preferred Magformers over magnetic tiles because the structures were stronger (they could be carried more easily and some of them could even be tossed to each other). If you are considering buying magnetic tiles, then you might want to read this post I wrote about our favorite brands of magnetic tiles and also this post about why I don't recommend Magna-Tiles brand.

Tomatoes are tender perennials. In a mild enough climate or warm enough greenhouse they can last for about two years. Some people dig up their tomatoes and bring them in and then out again each year. Others grow clones of their treasured tomato plants and grow them over the winter then put them out in the Spring for a headstart on the season. Read on for these methods in detail!

Let me introduce you to something called Probiotic Maker (formerly EZ Yogurt Maker). I've been using it for about three years now. It makes yogurt/kefir with less than one minute prep and has zero cleanup.

Here is what you do:

Probioticmaker.com

Open a new gallon (or half-gallon) of milk (or milk alternative) and pour the yogurt starter into the milk. Replace cap and shake to distribute the powdered starter.

Slip the maker over the gallon, plug it in, and let it culture for 8-11 hours.

Transfer carefully (without shaking to the fridge) and cool at least 8 hours. Enjoy!

I know, you are shaking your head right now. No boiling, no thermometer, no pans, no ice, no Instant Pot, no dishes???

I know! Insanely. Easy. Homemade. Yogurt.

I've been using this over three years now and just love how easy it is and that each starter packet has 11 different strains. I'll give you the cons first and then we can recap the PROS! Yea! Read on for more details!
Both brands produce premium microfiber cloths. And I love cleaning with them.
What you need to know about both brands:

Norwex makes high quality microfiber cloths. So does E-Cloth.
Norwex is rather expensive. E-Cloth is rather reasonable.
Norwex strands are 1/200th the diameter of human hair. Same with E-Cloth.
Properly used, Norwex can remove up to 99% of bacteria from a surface. E-Cloth boasts over 99%.
Norwex has a 2-year microfiber warranty. E-Cloth has a 3-year microfiber warranty.
Norwex a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. E-Cloth does too, but there is no stated time-frame.
Norwex has BacLock. E-Cloth does not. E-Cloth used to dabble in such a feature with their Professional General Purpose cloth but ultimately decided to nix silver additives.
What should shea butter smell like? Does shea butter go bad or expire? Does shea butter clog pores? What is grade A shea butter? Which brand of shea butter is best?

Any of these questions swirling around in your head right now? Don't worry, I had the same questions about 2 years ago and I'm here to clear the air a bit.

#1: There is a lot of misinformation circulating about shea butter. From blog posts to reporters, and even from the shea manufacturers, exporters, importers, and retail sellers themselves, there is a lot of hearsay about shea butter. So try to make sure that what you learn is backed up with some proof.

#2: High quality fresh shea butter is going to look like this:

Light ivory beige color

Soft, fondant (play dough) consistency

Rancid-free smell (a little nutty, sweet, earthy, maybe a little smokey)

#3: Good shea is going to have laboratory analysis to back it up. Different organizations will rank superior quality shea butter as Grade A or Grade 1. TO BE GRADE A (or Grade 1) IT MUST BE TESTED and comply with requirements. Just because it is tested, does not mean that it is high grade. You need to know how to read that report. Here are the two readings to which I pay the most attention:

Free Fatty Acids (must be less than 3%)

Unsaponifiable Matter (can be from 1 to 19%, with 1 being the least desirable...the very highest I have found has had 9%)

NOTE: Grading of shea butter is very different than Certified Organic or Fair Trade. A shea butter can be Grade A/1 and not be Certified Organic or Fair Trade. Likewise, just because a shea butter is Certified Organic and Fair Trade, that does not mean that it is a superior grade butter.

NOTE: Lots of people will say that the color of shea butter can be any color from ivory to greenish to gray. That is true but high quality shea butter is not going to be brown, green, or gray...shea butters with those colors are going to have bad peroxide laboratory readings. This means that the shea kernels were roasted too long. And a yellow-ish butter is an indication that it was produced with rotten kernels. (The only exception to the rotten kernels thing is yellow shea butter that has been dyed with herbs or roots and this will be very BRIGHT.) One more indication of shea being made from rotten kernels is a low melting point (lower than 35.0 C).

FAQ:

What is cold pressed shea butter? Shea butter that has been processed with a screw expeller press after the kernels have been roasted.

What does shea butter do for your skin? Feeds, moisturizes, and protects

Is it okay to put shea butter on your face? Yes!

Can shea butter go bad? YES! Usually shea butters are good for 1-4 years, depending on their quality. Air, water, sunlight can all contribute to shea butter going bad BEFORE its expiration date. Store your shea in a cool, dark place in a sealed container.

Free Fatty Acids are borderline at 3.5% and unsaponifiable matter is not even measured. My view is that if you are set on getting shea nilotica that you can purchase from San Pareil or Viva Naturals (I used to not recommend Viva but they do have a fresh batch in and so it might not be rancid like the batch I initially got). If you are okay with West African shea butter, then I suggest you go with one of my recommended brands since West African shea butter is not as pricey as East African (Nilotica) shea butter.

UPDATE: I don't know what the laboratory analysis is for this brand of shea butter, so I am unsure as to whether or not it is truly superior quality. All of its physical properties indicate that it is high quality, but lab results are important.

Okay, let's start off with a brand of rare shea butter that is well-sourced, put together, transparent, and currently well-priced--Sans Pareil Shea Butter.
Source: Uganda
Processing Method: Cold-pressed
Ethics: Fair-trade & Sustainable
Butter Aesthetics: Cream Colored & Smooth
Performance: Highly Absorbable & Light Outer Protective Layer
Brand Aesthetics: Transparent, Traceable, and Top-Notch
Buy at: Sans Pareil Naturals Website or Amazon

Sans Pareil Shea butter is from Uganda. Ugandan shea butter, or East African shea butter, or Nilotica shea butter, is from the species Vitellaria Nilotica. Nilotica shea butter has more oleic content than western shea butter from the species Vitellaria Paradoxa. This means it is smoother and melts faster.
Before reading my micro reviews on shea butter brands, please consider the following:

Shea butter quality varies from batch to batch. Region, rainfall, and processing methods are all significant quality factors.

Brands of shea butter can switch their supplier and this effects quality. For example, Naissance (wonderful company) recently switched suppliers and unfortunately, the new batch does not have good Free Fatty Acid results but their previous supplier's batch had phenomenal lab results.

Fresh high quality shea butter should look, feel, and smell a certain way. It should be light ivory beige, have a fondant-like texture, and smell slightly earthy, nutty, sweet, or smokey.

Laboratory analysis is the only way to confirm that a batch is high quality with solid levels of unsaponifiable matter.

Just because I recommend a certain brand right now, the next batch of shea butter that they get in might not be up to quality standards. And vice versa! ;) That being said, a brand that values high quality shea butter AND understands how it should be processed AND understand the value of laboratory testing SHOULD ensure that all the shea butter they distribute is truly high quality. I'm still searching for such a brand. ;) If you have found one, please comment!

Now for the mini reviews! Once again, this review only pertains to the batch that I ordered. I recommend you do your own research on the brand's current batch of inventory before ordering.
Brands I have tried:
Ancient Health Remedies ☹ Excessive FFA 7.12% WWW supplier
<strike>Anjou Naturals</strike>
Beuna Skin ☹$! Unresponsive company.
Bulk Naturals Etsy --waiting on lab analysis--
Dr. Ferrin's ☹ Company unresponsive & WWW seems to be supplier.
Green Leaf Naturals ☹ No lab testing available
Karitex 😊☹ My first batch was great with smooth, light nutty sweet scent. BUT the second batch was smelling rancid and plasticy. I transferred it to a new container and let it sit, then melted it and cooled it in the freezer. It helped the smell. This batch was also too soft/oily for me. Super sad beause is is fair trade, certified organic, with excelly labs. FFA 2.5-3.5% and Unsaps 7-10% YEAH! Can also buy bulk on their website.
Kate Blanc Cosmetics Borderline FFA 3.46%. Unsaps not measured.
Naissance: A favorite brand of mine BUT their new supplier's unrefined butter has FFA 6.45%. However, the clay refined butter labs are great with unsaps at 5%. Company is fair trade.
Nubian Heritage ☹ Very rancid.
<strike>PURE by Rachelle Parker</strike> ☹ Company won't provide analysis.
Rise N Shine ☹ FFA too high 4.48%
Sans Pareil Naturals 😊 Very fresh batch of Shea Nilotica. Borderline FFA 3.5%

SheaTerra Organics $! --waiting on analysis--
<strike>Slice of Nature (East Shea Oil)</strike>
Smell Good 😊 So far the only company with satisfactory lab analysis that has low levels of FFA and Peroxide, with moderate levels of unsaponifiable matter 4.06%. Most economically priced and claim to be fair trade.

Superior Shea: 😊$! Fresh 2018 batch with Unsaps 5.63% and low FFA 0.96% with strong smell. Fair trade for sure. But shipping makes it $22/lb which is steep.
Viva Naturals ☹ Jar was nearing exp and rancid. However, since then they have bought a new batch of shea nilotica and I am considering a purchase. It would be identical to Sans Pareil Naturals because Guru Nanak is the manufacturer.

Zavebe ☹ Awfully rancid.
Brands that I've looked into (this is mostly for my own records):

Afrikinky Shea Butter: Waiting on labs. GSA member. Company unresponsive.
Alaffia: They don't test every batch, and their lab averages for FFA are btwn 1.07-8.56% and Unsaponifiable Fraction averages are 2.21 – 4.18%.
Anthony's Goods: Completely unresponsive
Baraka: Canadian company with really good lab readings. Just wish unsaponifiables were higher than 2.06%
Better Shea Butter: They only do cosmetic testing, which doesn't show unsaps.
Bramble Berry: Cold-pressed Refined Unsaponifiables 6% No returns.
Bulk Apothecary: Unsaps not measured on unrefined but refined Unsaps are 5.8 and FFA 0.20%
Coastal Scents: Doesn't do testing.
Daolus: Unresponsive, Nigerian, GSA member, waiting on labs.
Essential Depot: FFA too high 7.2!
FairTale Ghana: $! Very fair trade. Awesome labs but unsaps not measured.
From Nature with Love: Refined but consider the Unsaps 6.6% and FFA 0.010%.
Good Earth Spa: FFA 5.45% too high!
Green Factory: Waiting on labs.
Key West: Does not test their shea.
Mary Tylor Naturals: Labs really good. Unsaps possibly above 4% but not sure about the latest batch.
Liberty Natural Products: Good unsaponifiable matter levels 6-9% but current stock is pretty old although they regularly monitor their expiration dates. I will most likely be ordering from them in the future. Search "shea butter" and click on special yellow for the highest Unsaps.
Lotion Crafter: FFA too high 7.2%, unsaps not measured.
Naturise Good lab readings except low unsaponifiable Matter 1.4
Rustic Escentuals: High FFA 6.06% Unsaps not even measured

Shea Butter Source: Canadian company that seems awesome but I have no labs. Have to buy a big box.
SheaGrowers: Good labs, but unsaps not measured.
Sky Organics: Company unwilling to share lab results.
Soap Expressions Candlewic: Sold by gallon. Refined. Unsaps 5.8.
If you are a company wanting to send me shea butter for review, please contact me using the form to the right. I do have high standards and will require a copy of your (or your supplier's) lab results, also called Certificate of Analysis. You can't sell shea butter as Grade A or Grade 1 without proof to back it up.
Why I love shea butter:
Shea butter has transformed my skin. It's not that shea butter makes my skin flawless..it's that it makes my skin feel so healthy that I just don't enjoy the feel of makeup on my skin. Which is really really odd for this make-up loving guru to say...because, hello, makeup is so fun! But the bluntness in me cannot deny the change shea butter has made in my life. I love good shea butter from the top of my head to the tip of my toes.
